Minecraft Online Coding Classes
from ages 8 to 14

Yes, there is no prerequisite to this course.

What you do need though is a computer equipped with a webcam, audio input/output, and an Internet connexion that allows video meetings.

The 10 courses of the entire Minecraft Coding program are adapted for children and pre-teens aged from 8 to 14. That means the software is a simplified version of the real deal. This helps participants spend less time on mastering technology and focus on acquiring remarkable computer skills.

Parents must buy, download, and install Minecraft Java Edition before the first class. You will receive detailed instructions from us to help you with the installation.

Please, be available at the beginning of the first class in case adjustments are required.

Hardware – You need a computer that provides average performance. That would be a processor of at least 2 GHz. No Chromebook or tablets are allowed. To test your computer’s performance, download and run the Minecraft demo. If it runs smoothly, your computer is powerful enough.

Make sure you have enough bandwidth to allow video calls. Also, have a webcam, a microphone, headphones, and a mouse to facilitate your child’s experience.

Software – You need to buy, download, and install Minecraft Java Edition.

Yes. We welcome all levels and abilities, and our instructors are sensitive to neurodiversity. What you can do to enhance your child’s experience is tell us how we can better adapt to their specific needs – send us an email.

Note that teachers are also available 15 minutes before every class. It’s a good moment to have a word with them.

No. However, they can do this course online from any computer they have access to. All they need are their Minecraft Java Edition credentials. Files can be transferred by email or USB key.

Class material is accessible on Moodle 24/7. Participants can then go back to class material whenever they need it – including when a class is missed. Instructors are available for 15 minutes prior to the beginning of each class. It’s a good time to ask questions.

If you happen to know in advance that your child will be missing a class, let us know. We’ll be happy to try to add them to another class for a catch-up session.

If you want to postpone a course, simply let us know by sending us an email. You can do so without any charges up to 6 days before the first class. After the 6-day notice period, check our policy.

If you are canceling a course for which you have already paid, refunds are available.

Each unit of our weekly classes consists of 10 hours of lessons that is spread out across 5 modules with 2 hours of classes in each module.
We also offer for free 2 hours of an “Open Class” in which the class structure will vary. [depending on the unit]*
The “Open Class” will take place on the sixth and last class of a unit.

This “Open Class” will be used to:

• finish the unit with the help of an instructor ( in case the student was absent during one of the modules)
• hold an individual meeting organized at the end of each project to discuss the student’s progress based on our educational assessment – initiated by Studio XP
• take a break before the next unit
•  retake a module that was cancelled by Studio XP following an unforeseen event – initiated by Studio XP

The “Open Class” is offered for free by Studio XP and is therefore not refundable.
