MANDATORY EQUIPMENT
Sufficient internet connection for the videoconference.
Webcam, microphone, headphones (e.g. phone headphones)
Mouse

SOFTWARE

All software is provided, by email. You will receive an installation guide, and an invitation to one of our technical support sessions.
For the Minecraft Coder course, it will be necessary to purchase the Minecraft Java Edition game beforehand (see the “Minecraft Curriculum” section).

For the Game Creator with Roblox Course, it will be necessary to download the free software on the official Roblox Studio site (see the “Game Creator with Roblox Course” section).

COMPUTER TYPE REQUIRED

All you need is a 2 GHz processor. In 99% of cases, you don’t have to worry about other performance parameters (RAM, graphics card…).

To know your Windows processor: Right click on the Start Menu, on the left of the task bar, and choose System.
To know your Mac processor:
Choose Apple Menu (🍎) > About This Mac, top left.

To test the power of your computer

Some processors below 2 GHz are suitable.
The best test is simply to play Minecraft: If the game is smooth, your computer is suitable for all XP courses.
Download the free version of Minecraft (demo).

If you have to buy a computer

All you need is a $500 model, equipped for video conferencing (webcam, microphone).
Choose a PC over a Mac, if you have the choice.

Optional equipment

A 2nd screen can improve the experience as various tools will be running at the same time, but it is not a requirement for the Minecraft course.

  • The amount that is refunded is based on 10 hours of classes which correspond to the first five modules of a unit

After this time, you will be charged for the next module.
  • Missed modules (absences) are not refunded.

3-CANCELLATION OR MODIFICATION OF LESSONS BY STUDIO XP
Exceptionally, it may happen that Studio XP is forced to cancel a class / camp or change the schedule.
Parents are then notified as soon as possible. If the change does not suit them, they are refunded free of charge.

4-ABSENCES

Refer to the question: “What happens in the event of absence or shared custody?”

Missed course modules cannot be resumed at another time or with another group.
The student can repeat the missed module by themself, thanks to the detailed course content available on our internet platform (Moodle). They can also get help from their teacher before the next module. Our teachers are available 15 minutes before each class to answer questions from students and their parents.

Students in shared custody can follow their course with both parents, on two different computers. All they have to do is install the software, save their work for each lesson and transfer the files either by email or using a USB key.

ABOUT Child's needs and special needs

There are no prerequisites, but they must be used to using a computer.

Some aspects of game creation have been simplified to be accessible to beginners, but the principles and methods are those of professionals.

This course is for young people who love computers and are ready to take on technical challenges and use complex software.

ONLINE
  • The help of a parent is recommended for the installation of the software, before the first lesson.
  • Your child will likely need your help to install the software or your presence in one of our technical assistance sessions
  • You should be around during the first lesson to make sure that everything is working
  • Participate in parent-teacher meetings (at the end of each chapter, in the weekly class formula)
Free technical assistance sessions are available online.

We welcome varied profiles, with success, thanks to flexible and personalized teaching tools.

There is no exam or performance pressure. Everyone can follow the course at their own pace, because most of the time, students do not all do the same thing at the same time. Our entire team is sensitive to neurodiversity:
Gifted
ADD/ADHD
High-level ASD
Difficulties in reading, writing and language
Lack of interest in school
Excessive video game practice

We ask parents to give practical information to the teacher, first by email (info@studioxp.online) then live, before a lesson.

Teachers are available 15 minutes before each class for private and confidential discussions.

The Customer Support team is at your disposal too.

ABOUT Weekly courses and camps

Online, your child connects to his virtual class where his teacher will be waiting for him.

Studio XP’s unique platform mimics the operation of a real classroom. In this easy-to-use, fun and interactive environment, young people are independent, they actively participate and make friends.
The teachers are helped by teaching assistants who come to the aid of students blocked by a technical problem. They are available 15 minutes before each lesson for private discussions with parents.

Thanks to the online course support, the young person can take a course they missed, or go further, on their own.

ABOUT Minecraft program

There are no prerequisites, but they must be used to using a computer.

Some aspects of game creation have been simplified to be accessible to beginners, but the principles and methods are those of professionals.

This course is for young people who love computers and are ready to take on technical challenges and use complex software.

Some parents worry that their child already knows the basics because they have played a lot of Minecraft. In fact, it’s rare that a student finds it too easy.
We use an educational version of Minecraft, which our experts have custom-developed to teach programming.

The course is based on advanced Minecraft features that few kids master: Redstone, Command Blocks, MCreator mod creation software. If your child already masters Redstone and Command Blocks, talk to the teacher who will place him in an appropriate level.

The teachers are Minecraft experts. They have the answer to everything and are able to offer challenges adapted to everyone.

You need Minecraft Edition Java PC game. This is the full version of the game, the only one compatible with the XP course.

  1. Buy the game ($29.99) on the official Minecraft website
  2. Write down your username. You will be able to install Minecraft on several different computers, with the same account.
